The role of frontend developer

Our target planet is called “Best digital service” for citizens in Germany. As a frontend developer for the #OpenSourceAstronauts, you will play a key role in ensuring that we can optimally navigate this planet.

You optimise JavaScript code and application performance to improve load times, responsiveness and usability for our customers in collaboration with our UX department. You implement techniques such as code splitting, lazy loading and caching to minimise resource consumption and maximise efficiency. Your goal: to deliver clean applications, quality-checked with unit tests. You also share your knowledge so that the entire crew can benefit from it.

What you should bring with you

Your language is JavaScript code, your planet is the implementation of various functions. This is where you know your way around and where your professional home is. After completing your apprenticeship or studies in the IT sector, you set out to conquer the world of JavaScript language functions such as ES6+ syntax, closures and prototypes and to create robust and scalable applications. You are adept at writing unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability and correctness of JavaScript code. You will also use debugging tools and techniques to identify and fix problems in JavaScript applications. Jira and Confluence – these are not foreign to you, but important tools to support the collaboration of your crew and help the mission succeed. It is also part of our concept that we are constantly learning from each other. This means for you: share your knowledge with your colleagues – of course, this works best if you are open, communicative and eager to learn.
